We are pleased to make a return to in-person youth events at some of our BC SPCA locations, in addition to offering virtual programs available across B.C.!


October

CREEPIN’ IT REAL: BOO-TIFUL ANIMALS

  • Location: BC SPCA Kelowna branch

Do you think bats and spiders are spooky creatures? Have you ever wondered why these animals are commonly viewed like this? Join us at the Kelowna SPCA on the Oct. 21 pro-d day as we learn about these misunderstood animals, and consider them through a different lens. Through fun games and activities, participants will have a great time learning about what makes these animals unique, important and not-so-spooky after all!

SPOOKY ANIMALS OF HALLOWEEN

Oct. 21 is a provincial pro-d day and we are inviting youth ages 8 to 12 to join us at the Nanaimo SPCA to learn about the Spooky Animals of Halloween. Participants will learn about these animals through fun games, activities and guest speakers. They will also spend time with some of the animals in our care.

PRO-D DAY WORKSHOP

Oct. 21 is a provincial pro-d day and we are inviting youth ages 8 to 11 to join us at the Vancouver SPCA for fun and learning about animals! Participants will learn all about animals through fun games and activities, and will meet and interact with suitable animals in our care.

BOO-TIFUL BUDGIES AND FURRY FRIENDS

The West Kootenay SPCA has gone to the birds! Youth ages 9-11 are invited to join us (and a whole bunch of budgies) for a busy and fun day of discovery. Games, crafts and fun activities will help participants explore the world of winged wonders. Plus we will spend time with some other adoptable pets and learn how we can make the world a better place for them.

AUTUMN ANIMALS

  • Location: Online workshop available across B.C.!
  • Date: Oct.21
  • Time: 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Style: VIRTUAL
  • Ages: 7-11
  • Cost: $30

Have you ever wondered how wild animals adapt to survive the changing of the season? Or how we can make animal-friendly fireworks to keep our furry friends and neighbours safe during celebrations? What about turning a seasonal fruit into a tasty treat? Join us on Oct. 21 and dig into the Autumn season from some animals’ perspectives. This three-hour virtual session will include a combination of online activities, videos and games, alongside hands-on crafts and experiments.

Financial assistance

If your child is interested in attending our programs, but cost may be a barrier, we welcome you to complete our online application for financial assistance. We have a limited number of bursaries available. Please contact us if you have any questions, or if you would like a downloadable version of the application.


COVID-19

The safety of children, BC SPCA staff, volunteers and animals is our top priority. All in-person Humane Education events will operate under a COVID-19 safety plan, developed to reflect current public health guidelines.

Refund policy

In-person event refund policy: A full refund will be issued with seven full days’ notice of cancellation. Refunds will not be issued if registration is cancelled within fewer than seven days of a program’s start date. Exceptions will be made for medical/family emergencies and will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Please abide by the age range set for campers. Participants registered outside of the age range may not qualify for a refund.

Educational support

In order for us to provide a safe, inclusive and supportive environment, we ask you to provide any information that will help us make our camps a great experience for your child.

If your child requires assistance at school, please contact our Humane Education department so we can discuss how best to support them. If your child requires more one-on-one support, we may ask for an aid with a Criminal Record Check to attend the event with your child to ensure they are supported.
