A devastating discovery: found with multiple injuries after having missing for a few days, six-month-old Noel is now in dire need of treatment.
SPCA staff in Haida Gwaii and Vancouver have coordinated to get Noel his much-needed intensive care. This Yorkshire Terrier-mix was found with a massive amount of skin missing from his torso, a badly broken leg — and he’s also suffered trauma to his lungs.
“Time is of the essence: we desperately need this care to save this dog’s life,” says Rachell Weist, manager, SPCA animal transfer program. “With the vet clinic in Haida Gwaii closed for the holidays, we’ll need to fly him into Vancouver before Christmas. We are so grateful to Pacific Coastal Airlines for assisting us with that, so that he can receive the specialized care he needs.” Noel’s bill is currently slated to total more than $11,000.
“Once in Vancouver, we’ll be able to provide him with the extensive procedures he needs to address the degloving and the other injuries he has. We expect he’ll spend three to four weeks in veterinary care, followed by another month in foster to recover,” notes Weist.
