Dog fosters urgently needed in the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley

January 30, 2023

The BC SPCA has an immediate need for dog fosters in the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley to provide temporary boarding and a loving home for animals in need.

“January has been very busy,” says Adrienne McBride, senior director, community animal services for the BC SPCA. “More than 80 dogs came into our care this month. They are currently in animal centres across the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley. In order to be able to continue to take animals in, we need fosters who can take these dogs out of the animal centres and into their homes.”

Fosters need to have access to a car to transport animals to their veterinary appointments. The BC SPCA provides training, supplies all food and equipment to the volunteers and pays for all costs related to the medical care of the dog.

“Fosters play a pivotal role in the health and well-being of the animals we take in,” says Lindsay Baker, senior manager, volunteer resources for the BC SPCA. “We are so grateful to our current fosters and those who are applying for the first time.”
