Back in 2017, Annie Jönsson wanted to combine her passion for both animals and graphic design. Volunteering for the BC SPCA seemed like the best way to do so.  

“I love supporting a cause I really care about,” says Jönsson. “Unfortunately, we see and experience things every day that screams for our help. I am proud to volunteer for an organization that has such clear and important mission and vision.” 

Over the last four years, Jönsson has been instrumental in helping several departments by sharing her graphic design skills. Jönsson designs all of the BC SPCA’s volunteer newsletters, e-signatures and Humane education graphics, among other projects needed for the organization. 

Michelle Rodgers, manager of the BC SPCA’s Volunteer Resources, says Jönsson has been particularly instrumental throughout this past year as the organization adapted to the pandemic.  

“Annie designed communication circulated to volunteers to keep them informed on the rapid changes that evolved from COVID–19,” says Rodgers. “She demonstrated the success of working remotely in a volunteer role, and we have come to count on her as much as any other team member. Annie’s creative flair for graphic design radiates through all of her work. Whenever we have a design project, she eagerly responds and produces impressive results.” 

Jönsson says she loves working on various projects, including even challenging ones. “I love to practice my skills and knowing that it’s helping this great community is a wonderful feeling. The more I can give, the happier I feel.”
