Poor Judy is a victim of neglect and needs loving care

January 6, 2020

The BC SPCA’s Nanaimo & District Branch is asking for your help with the costs of surgery for an eight-year-old Shih Tzu named Judy. This little dog was surrendered into SPCA care during a cruelty investigation.

“Judy has suffered from an untreated eye infection that has left her completely blind,” says Nanaimo SPCA branch manager Leon Davis. Judy’s eyes are causing her constant pain and will need to be surgically removed. “She adjusts well to being in a new environment despite being blind and can track down a dog treat in no time flat,” says Davis.

Judy will also need oral surgery to have all of her teeth extracted because she did not receive the regular dental care she needed.

This little sweetheart loves people and has many years ahead to live a pain-free life. “Judy likes to snuggle up to you and is a real lap dog.” says Davis.

Her surgery, post operation health checkups, medication and daily care will cost $3,930. She will need at least three weeks to heal before going up for adoption.

If you can help save Judy and other animals in need at the Nanaimo SPCA, please visit spca.bc.ca/medicalemergency or visit the branch at 154 Westwood Rd, Nanaimo, 250-741-0778.
