Ease her pain: Maple Ridge staff hope public can help sweet Roxy

February 7, 2017

She came into BC SPCA care screaming in pain. Roxy, a young, long-legged fawn Chihuahua at the Maple Ridge BC SPCA Branch, has one knee that slips out of place, causing her great pain.

SPCA staff are hoping animal lovers will come to Roxy’s rescue and help this sweet girl get the surgery she needs.

“Roxy is so adorable and a real cuddle-bug – she reminds you of Bambi,” says Maple Ridge BC SPCA Branch manager Jenn Stack.

“You can see her keep her leg up to prevent it from hurting – it is heartbreaking, as she is so sweet, but you can see she is worried about her leg hurting.”

The surgery, recovery and other medical costs associate with Roxy’s care are expected to be about $2,400. A non-profit organization, the BC SPCA relies primarily on public donations to carry out its life-saving work helping the province’s most vulnerable animals.

“We just want this sweetheart to have the chance  to live a long, happy and active life,” Stack says, noting that Roxy will be available for adoption after her surgery and recovery.

If you can help Roxy and other animals like her in need at the Maple Ridge BC SPCA Branch, you can donate online at spca.bc.ca/medicalemergency or in person at 10235 Jackson Rd., Maple Ridge.
