Don’t miss your chance to vote for the winners of the BC SPCA Calendar Contest!

February 11, 2025

There are so many amazing animals vying for a coveted spot in the annual BC SPCA Calendar Contest, presented by Hill’s Pet Nutrition. Your vote could decide who makes it in! The 12 animals (six dogs, and six cats/ other amazing pets) with the most votes will win the cover or a full page in the 2026 BC SPCA Calendar.

Votes not only help to determine which animals will be included in the calendar but raise much needed funds for the BC SPCA. For every dollar you donate, you get one vote (all donations get a tax receipt).

“It has been so heartwarming to see the photos of people’s pets and read all of their inspiring stories,” says Alina Wilson, the BC SPCA’s senior officer, digital giving. “As we countdown to the close of the contest on February 15, it is so exciting to watch the votes come in and wonder which of these entries will be in our calendar.”

Here are just a few of the moving entries from across the province that have already touched our hearts (to see all the entries visit spca.bc.ca/calendar). Will one of them get your vote?

Lower Mainland

Peaches and Cookie (l) and Zeus (r).

Peaches and Cookie
Peaches is outgoing and loves doing tricks, Cookie is more quiet but can really make some noise for veggies or fruit. This year we have decided to help the BC SPCA just like how they helped us bring these guinea pigs into our lives.

Zeus
Zeus is a BC SPCA alumni! This goofy boy will steal your heart with his piercing eyes and beautiful coat. He is full of kisses, tail wags, and always needs to sleep touching his humans.

Northern B.C.

Ozzy and Roo (l) and Jones (r).

Ozzy & Roo
Ozzy, an Australian Shepard mix was adopted from the BC SPCA North Cariboo in 2018. She was frightened of the world for a couple years but after spending many summer nights at Barkerville Brewing in Quesnel, Ozzy learned that she is loved by many.

Her stepsister, Roo (corgi and cattle dog mix) who joined us in 2024, is helping keep Ozzy youthful in her golden years. Ozzy moved to Salmon Arm with her humans and is living her best life in retirement!

Jones
Jones was adopted from the BC SPCA Williams Lake in March 2024. Full of personality, Jones is half Manx and half Lynx-Point Siamese. She’s extremely food motivated and loves to play with her favourite mouse toy when she isn’t snuggled tightly in a lap.

Vancouver Island

Attley (l) and Rosie (r).

Attley
Attley was rescued when she was 8 months old alongside her mother by a rescue in Victoria. She was adopted at a year and a half and has been thriving in her new home.

Rosie
Rosie is a sweet girl that we were lucky to find at the BC SPCA Nanaimo last August. Her middle name is Sweet Pea, which was my mum’s favourite flower. Now about 8 months, she is loving life watching the birds through the windows and running all over the house with our eight-yea-old daughter! Rosie loves to snuggle, give kisses, play hide, and seek. Rosie Sweet Pea has truly completed our little family.

Interior

Keely (l) and Furi (Furiosa) (r).

Keely
Keeley Dory Marie was found abandoned on the streets of Oakland California with her siblings and rescued by Small Dog Rescue in Langley BC in 2015. She has been livin’ like royalty ever since and is always tapping on her owners’ hands or shoulders asking for treats or a tummy rub asap! This little dog is very, very loved and makes her human laugh a dozen times a day at least!

Furi (Furiosa)
Furiosa was found as a stray by a Good Samaritan who took her to Fairfield Emergency Animal Hospital for immediate care. She was emaciated and needed emergency care, including surgery to remove her front leg. The BC SPCA Kelowna agreed to help and find her a foster family. She quickly won the hearts of her foster family and was adopted by them once she was nursed back to health.

The BC SPCA’s Calendar Contest provides vital funds for animal welfare, including animal protection, sheltering and adoption and a wide range of outreach, advocacy, and education services. Last year, the BC SPCA helped more than 135,000 domestic, farm and wild animals in need thanks to caring British Columbians.

The contest ends February 15 at 8 p.m. PST.
