While responsibility for overseeing the affairs of the BC SPCA is entrusted to the Board of Directors, Members with an active interest in participating in the governance of the BC SPCA may also do so through their Regional Council.

There are currently Regional Councils established in each of the four governance regions of the province:

  • Cariboo and North
  • Lower Mainland/Fraser Valley/Sunshine Coast
  • Thompson/Okanagan/Kootenay
  • Vancouver Island/Gulf Islands/Powell River

Regional Councils meet approximately three times per year and support the work of the Board of Directors. Regional Councils provide input on the Society’s strategic plans; Bylaws; animal welfare position statements; and identify candidates for election or appointment to the Board. Further details are provided in the Terms of Reference for Regional Council (PDF).

BC SPCA Members interested in joining their Regional Council are encouraged to learn more and register today!
