While responsibility for overseeing the affairs of the BC SPCA is entrusted to the Board of Directors, the Bylaws of the BC SPCA also provide for the creation of Regional Councils in each of the four governance regions of the province.

Under our newly amended Bylaws, Regional Councils will be established for the following regions:

  • Cariboo and North
  • Lower Mainland/Fraser Valley/Sunshine Coast
  • Thompson/Okanagan/Kootenay
  • Vancouver Island/Gulf Islands/Powell River

Regional Councils will meet approximately three times per year and will support the work of the Board of Directors. Regional Councils will provide input on the Society’s strategic plans; Bylaws; animal welfare position statements and identify candidates for election or appointment to the Board.

Members interested in actively participating in a Regional Council within their region are encouraged to submit an expression of interest to serve on a Regional Council.
