The BC SPCA’s Wild Animal Rehabilitation Centre (Wild ARC) was recently named ‘favourite non-profit’ by the WestShore Chamber of Commerce for the second year in a row.
From Oct.26th to 29th of this year, the WestShore Chamber of Commerce and Goldstream Gazette held online appreciation events to honour community groups and organizations for their significant contributions to improve the quality of life in the Westshore.
More than 34,000 votes were cast across 44 categories with Wild ARC being voted into the top three for the favourite non-profit category alongside the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #91 and Broken Promises Rescue.
“We are truly honored and grateful to have won the Best of the Westshore award for the favourite non-profit for the second year in a row,” says Tara Thom, assistant manager, Wild ARC. “Wild ARC would not have achieved this recognition if it weren’t for our incredible staff, volunteers, donors and the community support that helps us to do the work we do. This award is for all of you.”
Typically held in-person, this year’s annual award Gala was held as a virtual event due to COVID-19 but, Thom says, that didn’t stop the “amazing sense of community achievement and connectedness.”
