In June 2018 Olivia Malcom was tragically killed in a car accident days before her 20th birthday.
Determined not to let her kind and generous spirit be forgotten, 17 of Olivia’s closest friends came together to do something extra special to honour her memory and her love of dogs – they adopted a kennel at the Burnaby SPCA.
Because of her deep love for animals, especially dogs, her loved ones knew that this gift would be exactly what she would’ve wanted to continue helping dogs in need.
“She deserves to continue to be a light in all our lives, do good in the world and be honoured in a way that really captures the essence of who Olivia truly was,” says a friend. “A bright, kind, loving cherished friend, daughter, sister, cousin, and niece.”
Already Olivia’s Kennel has already given a home to a number of animals in need, including a sweet senior dog named Toby.
Our friends at Hill’s Pet Nutrition were so moved by Olivia’s friends’ tribute that they have pledged to match all donations towards kennels and any item in the BC SPCA gift catalogue, up to $25,000.
Hill’s provides all the food for the animals in BC SPCA care across the province, and with today’s match you can join them in providing animals shelter when they need it most whether it’s in your name, the name of a beloved animal, or in honour of someone like Olivia who inspired kindness in you.
