The BC SPCA wants to remind people of the amazing animals currently waiting for their forever homes at animal centres across B.C.
“We see a substantial slow-down in adoptions in February,” says Adrienne McBride, the BC SPCA’s senior director, community animal centres. “We don’t see as many people looking for pets to add to their families as we do the rest of the year.”

At the time of this release, there are close to 300 animals from dogs and cats to guinea pigs and rabbits, available for adoption. “This represents a fraction of the total number of animals in our care,” says McBride. “Animals waiting for medical procedures, in protective custody, puppies and kittens under 8 weeks of age will make the number of adoptable animals grow over the coming weeks.”

McBride adds that the BC SPCA is also preparing for ‘kitten season.’ “As the weather starts to get warm again, outdoor cats will start to breed,” says McBride. “This means we will see more litters of kittens coming into our care, who will need forever homes. We need to find homes for the animals currently available to make room for them.”
As a thank-you to everyone who gives a deserving animal a forever home between February 6 and 28, the BC SPCA is offering a 25% discount on items available at the BC SPCA Online Store.
