Mary Colman’s love of animals has always been strong and unwavering. At 104 years old, Mary has been giving to the BC SPCA for almost a hundred years, and for the last thirty she’s been a monthly donor.
“I always had animals,” Mary shares. “My mother loved animals and growing up we had both cats and dogs who I loved playing with. She also taught me that it was important to give.”
What started as a love of animals developed into a compassionate need to help, which inspired Mary to give as a child. Now we’re celebrating Mary’s tremendous generosity to mark her 30th year as a PAW Plan monthly donor!
When asked why she has continued to give for so long, Mary told us, “Because animals have always made me happy and I want to give those who have no family that same chance at happiness.” In thanks for Mary’s hundred years of generosity and kindness to animals, we dropped by with a special friend – Jak the cat – who wanted to thank her personally for making sure he found his forever home!
In addition to Mary, this year we will be celebrating forty more PAW Plan supporters who have been giving for 30 years. These generous supporters have and are continuing to transform the lives of animals throughout B.C. Thank you!
