Gustav’s reason for giving is simple, “I support the BC SPCA because we have a common goal: to improve the situation of ALL animals.”
Last fall Gustav made an incredible decision that would give a Second Chance to even more animals. “When I heard about giving to A Second Chance Holiday matching, it was a no-brainer to give a gift that would encourage others to help out as well.”
Gustav’s generous donation inspired other animal supporters to match his donation during the holidays, tripling his initial impact for animals.
In addition to his generosity, Gustav is a passionate advocate for animals. Having grown up in an agriculture community and temporarily running a farm in the 1980s, Gustav’s greatest concern is the widespread inhumane treatment of farm animals: “I consider the treatment of animals in industrial farms one of the worst crimes in human history. Our laws need improvements, and I appreciate that the BC SPCA and Humane Canada are working to reduce suffering and make lasting changes,” referencing Codes of Practice and SPCA Certified, a food-labeling program that gives consumers assurance that the food they purchase comes from Canadian farms that raise animals to a higher set of standards.
A keen photographer with deep knowledge of and appreciation for nature, Gustav says, “I support the efforts of the BC SPCA on behalf of our pets, farm animals and wildlife, having lived with my two beloved dogs Britta and Judy, and still living close to and in harmony with some amazing wild animals.”
Thank you, Gustav for being there for animals who need us.
