BC SPCA seeks public’s help in investigation into dog found in Shuswap Lake

The BC SPCA is asking the public’s assistance for any information regarding the death of a dog whose body was found in Shuswap Lake near the west shore.

“On July 5, 2021, the RCMP recovered the body and it appears that someone had attached a weighted object with a rope to the dog’s collar,” says Eileen Drever, senior officer for protection and stakeholder relations for the BC SPCA.

“The body is badly decomposed, and as a result we cannot determine the breed or colour of the dog.” Drever said there was no tattoo or microchip for identification but that the dog was wearing a red collar.

The BC SPCA is asking anyone with relevant information that might assist in the investigation to please contact the Animal Helpline at 1.855.622.7722.
