Crown approves charge after chinchilla starved to death

November 26, 2009

A Victoria woman whose chinchilla starved to death, has been charged with animal cruelty.

Robyn Louise MacMillan has been charged under both the Criminal Code and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act after two chinchillas and a cat were left without food and water for at least 17 days. One of the chinchillas died just hours after it was discovered by MacMillan’s landlord and taken into custody by the BC SPCA.
