Cat hit by car needs your help

May 31, 2023

The BC SPCA is hoping you can help Finnigan, a three-year-old cat who was hit by a car in Burnaby.

“Good Samaritans witnessed Finnigan being hit by a car and called the BC SPCA for assistance,” says Nicole McBain, manager of the BC SPCA’s Burnaby animal centre. “When the BC SPCA’s night emergency officer arrived and put the carry kennel on the ground, Finnigan immediately walked into it.”

Finnigan was rushed to a veterinary hospital where he spent 48 hours in emergency care. “He had to have his fractured jaw wired and a large wound on the side of his face and mouth was sutured which also required a drain,” says McBain. He also had shredded paw pads and nails and required antibiotics, pain medication, skull x-rays and IV fluids.

“Finnigan has been the sweetest boy despite his severe injuries,” says McBain. “He just wants to get pets and purrs with pleasure. Even though he is recovering from his many injuries he has been playing with his toys and has been such a champ trying to eat on his own.”

Finnigan will be in BC SPCA care until he recovers from his injuries. He will then be neutered and after he has recovered from that surgery, he will be available for adoption.
