The BC SPCA has received a $30,000 grant from to help fund their province-wide pet food bank program.
“This grant couldn’t come at a better time,” says Diane Waters, the BC SPCA’s outreach specialist. “There are so many guardians struggling financially right now because of the higher cost of living. This generous grant from PetSmart Charities® will help us supply a week’s worth of food to approximately 1,500 animals.”
The grant will be distributed over a 12-month period and will not only help fund the purchase of pet food but also the distribution of food to the BC SPCA’s animal centres across the province.
“When people face hunger, chances are their pets do, too,” said Kate Atema, community grants manager at PetSmart Charities of Canada. “We’re proud to support BC SPCA’s pet food bank program. Too many pet parents have to make impossible decisions when they struggle to meet the needs of their special family members. When they gain access to these and other services, pets have a better chance of staying in homes, where they’re loved.”
