The BC SPCA is caring for 94 cats and kittens seized Aug. 10th from a residence in the Cedar area of Nanaimo. The sick and neglected cats were deemed to be abandoned under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act after their owner was evicted from the home.
“This is a sad case where the owner was an animal hoarder and did not take the necessary steps to relieve the suffering of the animals,” said BC SPCA Const. Tina Heary. She says some dead cats and kittens were found in the owner’s freezer and the remaining felines were in various states of neglect and distress.
