Sweet Mattea needs public’s help on the road to a happy, active life

June 1, 2017

BC SPCA staff are hoping a dog who came into the care of the Parksville-Qualicum Beach SPCA with a broken hip will get some help from her animal-loving friends. Mattea, an adorable two-year-old German shepherd mix, has problems sitting properly and limps, as the injury never received medical care.

“This lovely girl is so loving and so sweet, despite the pain she’s been in,” says Parksville-Qualicum Beach and District Branch manager Nadine Durante. “She’s still got a lot of life to live and we just want her to have the chance to live it actively and without pain.”

The medical costs associated to Mattea’s surgery and care are expected to exceed $2,300. A non-profit organization, the BC SPCA relies primarily on public donations to carry out its life-saving work helping the province’s most vulnerable animals.

“Mattea gets along well with all animals and humans big and small – she’s a really happy, super loving girl,” Durante says. “She’ll be a great addition to a loving home once her surgery and recovery are completed.”

If you can help Mattea and other animals like her at the Parksville-Qualicum Beach SPCA, you can donate online at spca.bc.ca/medicalemergency or in person at the branch, at 1565 Alberni Highway, Parksville.
