Brentwood Bay residents accused of starving, hanging, horse

November 14, 2009

Crown counsel has charged Brentwood Bay residents David Whiffin and Clayton Cunningham with animal cruelty after a 27-year-old Appaloosa gelding named Jalupae was starved to the point of emaciation and then hung to death.


Animals Matter to Canada

Thanks to the support of 75,000 Canadians, the House of Commons has unanimously passed a motion to support the development of a Universal Declaration on Animal Welfare (UDAW).


Permit process underway for exotic animals

The BC SPCA reminds members of the public that the permitting phase of the provincial government's new regulations governing the keeping of exotic wild animals is now in effect.


Powell River resident pleads guilty to animal cruelty charges

November 9, 2009

Powell River resident Bud Wilcocks pled guilty on Oct. 29 to charges of animal cruelty. The charges were laid following a BC SPCA investigation on Feb. 3 in which the SPCA seized six lame, lice-infested and emaciated goats and three neglected ponies.
