Spring break virtual workshops
BASICS OF ANIMAL ILLUSTRATION
Date: Mar. 18, 2026
Time: 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Ages: 9 to 13
Cost: $25
Participants will learn the basics of drawing from real life, taking inspiration from shelter animals and BC SPCA alumni. Through this interactive workshop, they will learn about the SPCA as an organization, the basics of animal body language, and contribute to the community by highlighting adoptable animals. Facilitated by Erin Shuttleworth, a professional artist and humane educator.
Supply list: several sheets of paper or sketchbook; pencil; pen or black marker; eraser; colouring materials; pencil sharpener
ECO-HEROES
Date: Mar. 18, 2026
Time: 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Ages: 9 to 13
Cost: $25
Participants will learn how to connect with Nature, Responsible Stewardship and Sustainability. Through interactive games, discussions and activities, participants will learn information about beavers and other B.C. wildlife who shape our environment. They will also learn how to be eco-heroes themselves!
Supply list: several sheets of paper; hole punch or stapler; tape or glue (stick/liquid); drawing materials; string or yarn (optional)
Kids Club Live!
Youth, ages 7 to 13, across B.C. are invited to join together virtually with the BC SPCA and other animal-loving kids around the province for Kids Club Live!. These FREE one-hour virtual sessions are hosted by BC SPCA Humane Educators, and feature engaging educational games, fascinating animal information, and opportunities to let the BC SPCA know how much animals mean to kids in B.C.!
Registration for our 2026 Kids Club Live! events is open! Participants are welcome to register for all sessions, or specific sessions of interest.
- Mar. 26, 2026: Life on a Farm – Hay there! Are ewe ready for a session that’s all about farm animals? Come learn how the BC SPCA speaks up for animals—and how you can, too! Through a fun mix of games, stories, and at-home activities, at Life on a Farm, you’ll discover how to lend your voice, stand up for animals, and become a real-life change-maker.
- May 21, 2026: Happy Homes – Do you have a companion animal at home—or dream of adopting one someday? Check out our session on being a great pet guardian! You’ll learn about the five freedoms of animal welfare, how to create a safe and happy home environment, and so much more. Get ready to give animals the care they deserve!
- Jul. 23, 2026: A Trip to the Beach – Every piece of trash has a timeline — and for B.C.’s marine animals, it can mean a lifetime of danger. As the sunny season begins, so do new risks for seals, birds, and other marine life. Discover how small actions can make you an eco‑hero and help keep our beaches safe, clean, and full of life.
- Oct. 29, 2026: Halloween Haunts – Spiders, snakes, and bats—oh my! These animals are often misunderstood, but they’re actually super important (and pretty cool). Join us as we learn why these “unpopular” animals deserve kindness and respect. We’ll explore fun facts, bust some myths, and share safe, animal-friendly costume alternatives so you can enjoy the season. Get ready to see creepy crawlies and bats in a whole new way!
Each Kids Club Live! session will run from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Registrants will receive a confirmation email upon registering. The link to our secure online events will be sent out two days prior to the event start date.
