As we step into a new year, we’re reflecting on the incredible moments that brought our community together in 2025. From heartwarming rescues to stories that sparked conversations and inspired action, our social media channels were filled with reminders of why compassion matters. These posts didn’t just earn likes, they created connections, raised awareness, and helped animals find the love and care they deserve. Here are the top three stories that captured hearts across British Columbia and beyond.
1. Georgia’s ‘tail’ of second chances
Georgia’s story struck a chord with thousands of animal lovers and became our most engaged post of 2025. Found wandering the streets of Vancouver, this sweet young cat had a microchip but no registered information. No name, no phone number, no way home. During National Lost Pet Prevention Month, her story served as a powerful reminder that a microchip without registration is just a number. Thanks to our team, Georgia was cared for and eventually adopted into a loving home, but her journey highlights an urgent message: make sure your pet’s microchip is registered and your contact details are up to date. This simple step can be the difference between heartbreak and a happy reunion.

2. Kitten with congenital deformity rescued from Kelowna property
Our second most-loved post of 2025 introduced the world to Guppy, a tiny kitten with an enormous spirit. Born with twisted front legs and extra toes, Guppy faced challenges from his very first steps. He arrived with his six siblings and their mum, Coral, from a property overwhelmed by an unmanageable number of cats. Without spaying or neutering, Coral endured litter after litter until help arrived. Guppy’s photo, with his little legs in splints, melted hearts across social media and sparked an outpouring of compassion. Supporters rallied to ensure he and his family received the specialized care they needed, proving that every gift truly makes a difference. Guppy’s story reminded us all that even the smallest lives deserve the biggest love. Read Guppy’s story here.

3. Theo the Charming Pup
Rounding out our top three posts of 2025 was Theo the affectionate, belly-rub-loving pup who stole hearts across social media. With his sweet face and impeccable manners (he knows sit and paw!), Theo quickly became a fan favorite. His story wasn’t just about charm, though. After experiencing past trauma, Theo needed a special home where he could feel safe and continue building confidence. Supporters rallied behind him, sharing his adoption post far and wide. When Theo finally found his perfect match: A patient, dog-savvy family ready to give him all the love he deserves, the comments section lit up with joy. Theo’s journey reminded us that every dog, no matter their past, deserves a future filled with trust, play, and unconditional love.

These stories are more than just posts, they’re proof of the incredible impact our community makes every day. From Georgia’s reminder about microchip registration to Guppy’s fight for a healthy future and Theo’s journey to a loving home, each moment reflects the compassion and commitment that define the BC SPCA family. Thank you for sharing, donating, and advocating for animals in need throughout 2025. Together, we’ve changed lives, and with your continued support, we’ll make 2026 an even brighter year for pets across British Columbia.
