As we look back on 2025, we are deeply grateful for the unwavering support of over 228,000 passionate animal lovers like yourself. With more than 45,000 actions taken in 2025, your voices were heard through various channels, whether through signing a petition, submitting survey feedback, or contacting your government officials. Your collective effort has been instrumental in advancing animal welfare throughout British Columbia and across the country.
The BC SPCA’s annual Advocacy Report recognizes the organization’s vital work towards addressing root causes of animal suffering. Through evidence-based research and strategic action, we continue to strengthen protections for animals at every level of government. None of this progress would have been possible without your support.
We’re excited to share the impact of your support in our 2025 Advocacy Report, now available for you to explore. This report highlights the key initiatives, successes, and progress we’ve achieved together this year.
Key highlights include:
- Federal: Advanced national petitions and advocated on key issues such as replacing the use of animals in science and including animals in emergency responses.
- Provincial: Worked with Ministers and Members of the Legislative Assembly to advocate for increased availability and affordability of pet-friendly housing and to prohibit exotic cats as pets.
- Local: Engaged city councils to push bans on aversive dog collars, repeal breed-specific legislation and regulate mobile live animal programs.
Thank you for being the voice for those who cannot speak for themselves. We couldn’t have done it without you.
