Erin Egeland has over eighteen years’ experience as an Accounting Professor in Vancouver Island University’s (VIU) Faculty of Management and the UBC Sauder School of Business Commerce and Diploma in Accounting Programs.
She extends her passion for education as a module workshop session leader for the CPA Western School of Business Professional Education Program. Erin specializes in Income Tax, Fraud Investigation, and Managerial Accounting and has been a visiting scholar with several of VIU’s international partner institutions and served on many committees including the Faculty of Management Curriculum and Education Standards and Graduate Business Studies Strategic Planning Committees.
Prior to teaching, she worked for nine years as a Federal Tax Compliance Auditor with the Canada Revenue Agency. She currently serves as an elected Board Governor for Vancouver Island University, as President of Reel Causes Society in Vancouver, Secretary/Treasurer for the Association of Certified Forensic Investigators of Canada, and a director at large for the Canadian Academic Accounting Association.
Erin has lived in the Cowichan Valley for thirty years, raised her three boys, and enjoys the company of her rescue dog, Diesel, and four cats – Dash, Diva, Willy, and Chopper. She is grateful for the beautiful outdoors where she finds time to kayak, hike, bike, and connect with the local wildlife.
