Sometimes a newly adopted animal fits so seamlessly into their new home that it feels like it was always meant to be.
When Kalin and his partner were searching for a feline companion to join their family, they met Apollo at the BC SPCA Cowichan Community Animal Centre in February 2024.
Sweet, young Apollo was freshly neutered, but he didn’t let that deter him from winning over the hearts of his new guardians. He showed them just how loving he could be.
Naturally, Kalin and his partner had no choice but to take Apollo home that day. A couple months have passed and Kalin has written to us with an update:
“My partner and I have wanted to get a pet for a couple years now. We drove up island to visit the BC SPCA Cowichan Community Animal Centre.
Apollo had just had his surgery that day but he was very affectionate and we knew he was meant for us. He was calm and unafraid on the drive home.
When we arrived home, he immediately started exploring. He was not at all anxious and he settled in quite quickly. That same night we learned he loves sleeping in our bed when it’s night time.
Apollo is an energetic cat and he needs a lot of play time to stay entertained. He loves being elevated and his cat tree has seen lots of use. He does not attack cables or cords or curtains, which we’re grateful for.
Apollo is very smart. I have trained him using a clicker to sit, go in a circle and lie down. He is the only cat that I’ve met who loves his paws being touched.
He also showed me that he likes to sit on my shoulder. The first time he did this came as a surprise to me. He gently jumped onto my shoulder while I was doing dishes. Now he does it all the time.
Apollo is the best cat I could have possibly hoped for. I’m extremely thankful to everyone at the BC SPCA for all they have done helping Apollo find his home with us. We look forward to spending many years together with Apollo!”
Thank you to you and your partner, Kalin, for adopting Apollo. We love to see that he already has you wrapped around his (extra) toe beans. It was clear to us how much affection Apollo was ready to give to those who deserve it, but his tricks and jumping skills are very impressive.
We can’t wait to hear about Apollo’s antics as he continues to flourish into the best cat he can be.
