Important Animal Centre Update: BC SPCA Vancouver Island Animal Behaviour Centre Construction
The BC SPCA is set to begin construction on a first-of-its-kind Vancouver Island Animal Behaviour Centre in Duncan, B.C., aimed at addressing the growing number of fearful and under-socialized animals needing significant behavioural support before finding their forever homes. The centre will feature specialized spaces, including a room that replicates a real home for behaviour modification. For more on this exciting update, read our news item and get more details on the Vancouver Island Animal Behaviour Centre.
As of October 6, 2024, the main community animal centre will be temporarily closed to the public during the approximated 16-18 months of construction.
Our temporary space is open to facilitate animal intake and adoption by appointment, provide outreach with our pet food bank programs, and support volunteer and foster programs from an office in Cowichan. Members of the public in need of support with animal surrender are asked to first contact the BC SPCA Animal Helpline by calling 1-855-622-7722.
