Wendy Ruth Bartlett

Wendy Bartlett and her animalsApril 5, 1954 – August 24, 2023

Wendy Bartlett loved animals. Starting at age ten, she met Pepper who was a Collie-German Shepherd cross for six dollars. Then in her late teens, she met her horse, who was sixteen hands tall and lovingly named Tonka Toy.

In 1984 Wendy moved to Cranbrook from Victoria B.C. In Cranbrook she had a variety of loving animals in her home over the years – Niska, Finnigan, Georgie, and Cody to name a few. If Wendy was not looking after her own cats and dogs, she was looking after her friends’ animals both big and small. This included giving loving care to dogs, cats, goats, horses, and mules.

Around 2016 Wendy had become an ‘in-demand’ pet sitter for many families. Unfortunately, after a bad fall her ability to pet sit the large animals diminished.

Throughout her life she was always concerned for the welfare of all animals, and she was a proud contributor to the SPCA in Cranbrook, East Kootenay, over the years. This was always an organization she genuinely believed in and was proud to support.

Wendy passed away peacefully on August 24, 2023. Wendy was a wonderful person who loved animals unconditionally.

Thank you so much to Wendy for thinking of the animals by leaving a gift to the BC SPCA, East Kootenay, in her will.
