Erika Pace-Floridia

Erika was born in Budapest, Hungary and left for the Netherlands in 1954. She eventually landed in London where she was employed as a nurse’s aide at a hospital and where she met her future husband, Dr. Albert Pace-Floridia. Together, they chose Canada to start their family, which always included at least one pet.

Their journey began in Newfoundland, then Quebec, then Alberta, and ended in British Columbia. After Albert passed away, Erika found comfort having Grizzley with her; a dog she rescued from the Vancouver BC SPCA.

To say Erika loved animals is a very large understatement.  Erika would put an animal’s life or safety ahead of hers without skipping a heartbeat. Her previous dog, Lucky, was rescued from the BC SPCA, where she walked in and asked which dog needed to be adopted urgently.

Numerous cats and dogs of all shapes and sizes graced the family house over time, and all were loved, appreciated and adored equally.  Her natural affinity, empathy, and love towards animals was passed down to her children, whom all learned and witnessed the importance of treating all animals with respect.

At 82 years of age, Erika outlived many friends and family who loved her genuine, peaceful nature and appropriate sense of humour.

She is missed by all who knew her.
