Harley

Adopting an animal is not only giving them another chance at surviving, but also helping them thrive.

When Cynthia met Harley at the BC SPCA West Vancouver Community Animal Centre in December 2023, she saw how much potential this sweet girl had.

Just a couple days into Harley’s new life at home, she had already started to open up and enjoy her new surroundings.

It has now been a year since Harley’s adoption and Cynthia has written to us with an update:

“I adopted Honey, now Harley, in December 2023 from the BC SPCA West Vancouver Community Animal Centre. This was the same branch I had adopted my last shepherd mix from in 2010; she lived for 14 wonderful years.

Harley had been abandoned by her previous family in Williams Lake. They had packed up the house and left her in it. She had significant separation anxiety as a result, and her generalized anxiety was so high in the shelter that she was on two different sedatives.

However, within three days of coming home with me, she was off the medications and started to relax. She has been an absolute dream with our cats and she is simply a love bug.

Harley walks beautifully on the leash now. Her recall is really improving. I am so proud of her. We go on many off-leash adventures in the forest, which she loves. The best part has been discovering her silly side and her love of the water!

Thank you for giving Harley a second chance at a forever home. She has found hers.”

Thank you, Cynthia, for choosing adoption as your first option. We are thrilled to see how comfortable Harley is with you ever since her early days at home. It goes to show how much of a difference safety and comfort can make for our beloved animals.

We are so thankful that you have given Harley a second chance at living her best life. We look forward to hearing about more of your adventures over the years to come.
