Goose

Sometimes all it takes is a little help from our friends to point us in the direction of our future kitty companion.

Samantha had already been thinking about adopting a cat for a while when her coworker told her about an abundance of cats who had recently come under the care of the BC SPCA.

To Samantha, it felt like a calling. It didn’t take long for her to check out the cats online.

After she came across Goose’s photo, she knew he was meant to be hers. Just a few weeks after Samantha adopted Goose from the BC SPCA Burnaby Community Animal Centre in May 2025, we have an update to share:

“I had been thinking about getting a cat for at least a year and a half. I had also recently moved to a pet-friendly apartment when my coworker mentioned that 83 cats were surrendered to the BC SPCA.

I thought if there was any time to adopt, it was now.

I went to look online and I fell in love with Goose’s little face in his photo. Then, I fell in love for real once I met him.

Upon bringing Goose home, he was a love bug immediately. He loves to nudge my hand with his head, asking for pets. He was already taking naps on top of my chest from the first night. He loves to sleep under the blankets beside me as well as climb on my lap while I’m in the washroom!

Even though outwardly he was confident, Goose didn’t want to eat much at first. Finally, I got him to try this cat tuna tube (which looks like yogurt) and he loved it. He ate almost an entire bowl of food.

Goose loves his ferret toy and his bird on a string. He also loves to perch on my windowsill to watch the view outside. In the coming weeks, I intend to harness-train him.

Overall, my little Goose is such a love bug through and through. I love him so much already, and it feels like I have had him for much longer.”

Thank you, Samantha, for choosing to adopt Goose. We are so thankful you came across his profile on our website when you did. Thank you for making Goose feel right at home and for ensuring he gets just as much nutrition as he is getting snuggles.

It is clear how much Goose trusts you and has already bonded with you just during this short time. We wish you many more happy years to come.
