August 3, 1939 – September 29, 2023

Janet was born in Rabbit Lake, Saskatchewan. She was the last born of 12 children. She moved to Vancouver B.C. in her late teens and obtained her Practical Nursing Degree in 1958. After marrying, Janet gave up nursing and they became proprietors of a convenience store the “Milk Jug”. They retired in Summerland, B.C. For the last 2 years of her life, she was in the Long-Term Care Homes, McKinney Place and Sunnybank Center, situated in Oliver, B.C.
Janet always had a deep love and affection for all animals but especially cats. Her last cat, Sir Charles, affectionately known as “Charlie” was adopted from Critteraid in Summerland. She was heartbroken when Charlie died as she could no longer have cats of her own. Her last year of living in Sunnybank Center brought her joy because they had a resident cat who visited her room regularly.
Janet also had a heart of gold for donating to charities, with the BC SPCA being her favourite. She recognized the work and the need for each charity and her heart went out for those less fortunate than herself.
Janet bequeathed the residual of her estate to the BC SPCA, specifically the South Okanagan Branch.
