Spaying or neutering your dog, cat or rabbit doesn’t just help prevent accidental litters. It also has health and behavioural benefits for your pet!
The BC SPCA’s low income spay/neuter program provides support for you to have your pet spayed or neutered (fixed). To get help from this program, you will need to:
- Be low-income as set by the Canadian government (Statistics Canada)
- Live in a community where the BC SPCA provides low income spay/neuter support
- Be at least 19 years of age
- Own an animal (cat, dog, rabbit) who is healthy and can have this surgery
- Fill out the form below:
The program works by providing you with a voucher in certificate form for $150 towards the cost of a spay and neuter surgery, a BC Pet Registry microchip and a set of shots (vaccines).
The voucher will likely not pay for all costs associated with this procedure for your pet. You will need to talk to the vet to understand what costs are not covered by this voucher and how much more you will be responsible to pay.
The voucher will last for three months. If you don’t use the voucher before its expiry date, you won’t be able to apply for another one until the next year. Talk to staff at your local BC SPCA centre if you have questions about this.
How to apply:
- Fill in the form below.
- You will be notified when your certificate has been approved or declined.
- Staff will process your information and create your spay/neuter voucher.
- We will email you the voucher if approved.
- Schedule your vet appointment with the details provided on your voucher.
- At your scheduled appointment time, take your pet(s) and the voucher to the appointment for your spay/neuter procedure.
