For those of us who love having an animal in our lives, their companionship is truly unmatched.
When Dana lost her cat during the holidays, she felt like a piece of her life had vanished. As she was navigating through her grief, Dana met Shrimp, a lively little tuxedo cat ready to bring lots of smiles to her future guardian’s face.
Dana couldn’t ignore the joy she felt in Shrimp’s company, nor the feeling that it was meant to be. In March 2025, Dana officially adopted Shrimp from the BC SPCA Cowichan Community Animal Centre.
We have now received an update to share:
“My very best friend passed away on Christmas Day, leaving a significant void in my heart. At first, I wasn’t sure if I would ever be ready to welcome another cat into my life.
However, by March, I realized I craved companionship and was determined to find my next furry friend.
I truly believe that my late cat sent me Shrimp. It’s such a heartwarming thought.
Shrimp is incredibly quirky and so different from my previous cat, which is exactly what I needed. She is full of spunk and affection. She embodies everything I hoped for in a little companion.
I had met a few other cats before her but, from the moment I saw Shrimp, I knew she was the one. We have formed a beautiful bond, and I’m thrilled we found each other.
Initially, she was quite shy, hiding under the bed and having some accidents outside the litter box. Now, she has completely come into her own. She has her own side of the bed, curls up with me, purrs constantly and always seeks my company.
Watching Shrimp blossom has been a truly remarkable experience. I’m grateful that my other cat guided me to her.”
Thank you, Dana, for choosing adoption as your first option. We also want to thank your previous cat for bringing Shrimp into your life. We’re so grateful that you felt the need to open your heart to another precious feline in need.
We love that you and Shrimp have bonded so much over the past couple months and have no doubt that bond will only strengthen over the years to come. Thank you for giving Shrimp such a safe, loving forever home.
