June

When looking for a new canine companion, it’s always worth waiting for the one who is right for you.

Lynne had been looking for a dog to join her family for a while when she came across June’s profile on the BC SPCA Williams Lake Community Animal Centre website. She couldn’t help but fall for this sweet German Shepherd mix, so she made her way to the branch for a meet and greet.

Upon meeting June, Lynne knew she was the dog for her. In November 2024, Lynne made it official and adopted June. A few months later, we have now received their story:

“We had been searching for a new dog to adopt and then saw June online. She was a stray who was brought into the BC SPCA Williams Lake Community Animal Centre.

We decided that a meet and greet was the next step for us. When we arrived at the shelter, the staff brought June into the office to meet us and it was love at first sight.

We took her for a walk and she really seemed to enjoy our company. She even gave her new dad a kiss on the cheek. We waited for her spay appointment, then we picked her up and drove her home with us.

It has been just over four months now, and June is really an amazing and highly intelligent dog. She has a new cat friend and they like to play together and have cuddled with each other for naps.

I am so happy with June. She has us laughing daily with her cute antics. It only took her a couple weeks to learn her yard boundaries and she loves walks with even some loose leash as we stroll along.

We can’t imagine life without her now. I’m so glad I adopted June and gave her a second chance. Apparently she was terrified when she arrived at the BC SPCA, but she has come so far and loves to give us hugs.

Thank you to the staff at BC SPCA Williams Lake Community Animal Centre for getting June so confident and happy!”

Thank you, Lynne, for adopting June. It warms our hearts to know how well June has already settled into her new home. She is clearly loving her new family, friends and yard. The fact that June has warmed so quickly to you shows how much she trusts you. We can’t wait to hear how your bond strengthens even more over the years to come.
