While adopting out animals, we always strive to make their perfect match.
When we were winding down operations at the BC SPCA North Cariboo Community Animal Centre, we were working to transfer the animals to other locations. Atlas was one of the dogs we were planning to transfer to Vancouver in November 2024.
Before proceeding, we wanted to give one potential adopter a call—just in case she was still interested.
Miranda didn’t waste any time coming down to the shelter. It has now been a few months since Miranda adopted Atlas, and she has written to us with their story:
“Our local BC SPCA shelter was closing. I received a phone call about adopting Atlas right away, or he would be shipped down to Vancouver within 12 hours.
I left work early and went straight to pick him up, and it was such an amazing decision.
When I first got him he was so gentle, kind and quiet, despite the rough first few years of his life. He was always so wonderful to me from the start. He absolutely loves cuddling, which can be surprising for a big dog with a thick coat.
Atlas gets along with all the humans and other dogs he has met. He loves attention and being called a good boy. He has gotten much stronger and more confident. I’m so unbelievably proud of him.
Atlas is a wonderful addition to my family. I’m forever grateful for having him by my side.”
Thank you, Miranda, for adopting Atlas. We are beyond grateful you were still interested in this gentle giant and came to pick him up as quickly as you did. We can see how much of a priority you have made him in your life. You have already made such a difference in giving him a second chance at living his best life. Thank you for providing Atlas with the forever home he deserves.
