With some of us, rats have ended up with a bad reputation, but the thirteen domesticated rats that came into the BC SPCA Kelowna Community Animal Centre on June 6, 2024 all quickly found good homes. Because there are a lot of people out there who know that rats make pretty amazing companion animals.
Momma was surrendered because her owner was moving and couldn’t take her with her. Immediately she went into foster and gave birth to twelve healthy, adorable babies.
Two of the boys, Hershey’s Kiss (on the right) and Crispy Crunch (on the left) were adopted together on July 30, as rats should be, as long as they’re the same sex. They’ve made their new mom pretty happy. Read on:
“I first saw Hershey and Crunch (Hershey’s Kiss and Crispy Crunch) on the BC SPCA website and instantly fell in love. I immediately sent in my adoption application and adopted them soon after.
They are a great addition to my family. Hershey is very adventurous and loves to explore, and Crunch loves to play and snuggle.
I’m very lucky to have these two little guys as a part of the family and look forward to all the memories we will make.”
We think your story might have changed a few minds about what great companions rats can be. Thank you for choosing to adopt these little cuties together. They look so healthy, you must be giving them a good life. Enjoy each other!
