Emergency Rescue

Adorable puppy and his dangerously underweight dad rescued from awful living conditions. These boys have buckets of love to share with the world but first they need urgent care

The good news is that there are kind people like you who create a lifesaving safety net for the most vulnerable animals.

All this sweet boy wants is to snuggle with you. His beautiful eyes win everyone over and his favourite thing is to crawl up to your neck and nestle right in. He wants human connection. He wants to feel loved, and the heartbreak he suffers when he is left alone is a true show of that.

Be warned that a couple of the images that follow may be hard on your heart in this season of cheer. Please remember, that while this is the situation today, this is not the future for this boy and his dangerously underweight dad.

Scout and his father, Atticus, were rescued from a sad situation Friday- a home that was not able to give them the care they needed. To give you an idea, the stench of feces from the yard was so strong it could be smelt before you were even on the property. Atticus’ body condition shares more than my words can, his ribs are clearly visible, his spine protruding, his ears inflamed and filled with dark discharge, and he has patches of hair-loss.

It’s painfully clear that Atticus’ skinny body is a shadow of what this big boy should look like. He’s been placed on a refeeding plan to help him gain weight at a healthy speed. Small amounts that won’t overwhelm his struggling body.

Scout needed an immediate bath after arriving into care, to wash away the intense smell of urine and feces from his paws. He’s also suffering with worms and was treated right away. He’s taking his medications like a champion! This tiny snuggle-monster will do anything for food, treats and love from people. You wouldn’t be able to resist opening your arms and calling him over for a hug if you met him.

The beautiful thing is that Atticus is no different with his love of cuddles. He doesn’t quite know his size and tries to get right into your lap if he can! He may not be a cat, but “If I fits, I sits” definitely applies to this boy. He is so eager to please and shares his affections freely with anyone he meets – even the vet…

These dogs are going to make two families very happy when they are ready to find their forever homes. There’s a special spark about them!

Considering everything from their past, their story could be very different. Thankfully they were rescued, thankfully they have access to medical care and thankfully they will spend the holidays surrounded by people who love them. All these things are made possible by your kindness.

If you are able to, please make a caring donation to help Atticus, Scout and others like them so they can experience a warm bed, a filling meal and an endless supply of loving cuddles.

Thank you for keeping animals in your heart
