With the snowstorm closing in, a team from the closest BC SPCA Animal Centre immediately set out on a 10+ hour round trip, braving treacherous conditions to bring this little family into care.
Upon arrival, it became clear how desperate the situation was. You can count the puppies’ bones beneath their patchy, crusted coats. Three of the most concerning wee ones are less than half the size of their littermates. These puppies needed to see a vet, fast.
At the vet, their worst fears were confirmed. All six puppies and their mother are severely underweight and malnourished, too weak to play or even stand for long. Their fragile bodies are suffering from multiple medical conditions including internal parasites, lice, coccidia, eye and ear infections, and painful skin issues.
These dogs were rescued just in time.
