This program provides a low-cost spay/neuter for pets of low-income families  that live in the Regional District of Central Okanagan. The pet guardian contribution is based on income level, sex of the animal and species.
How the Spay Neuter Incentive Fund (SNIF) program works
Scroll down to fill out an application. Your application will be reviewed by management at the Kelowna BC SPCA. Staff will notify you of the outcome within one to two weeks of receipt of your application.
For a successful application:
- Fully complete your application.
- Provide proof of residency within the Regional District of Central Okanagan.
- Household income must meet the Low-Income Cut-Off as set by Statistics Canada
Failure to comply with the above will result in your application being denied.
SNIF Program
When you receive your SNIF Voucher, the Kelowna BC SPCA will contribute to your pet’s spay/neuter procedure. Any additional costs incurred at our participating vet clinics are not covered by the SNIF Program. Pet guardians are responsible for payment directly to the veterinary clinic for additional services, products and procedures. It is recommended that you find a vet clinic that provides the surgical and medical care that fits your needs and budget.
To offset the costs of veterinary procedures, the BC SPCA Kelowna Community Animal Centre contributes the following amounts towards your pet’s spay or neuter procedure:

Small/Med Male – Program contribution $200.00 – You pay all additional costs
Small/Med Female – Program contribution $250.00 – You pay all additional costs
Large >50lbs Male – Program contribution $225.00 – You pay all additional costs
Large >50lbs Female – Program contribution $275.00 – You pay all additional costs
CATS
Adult male – Program contribution $100.00 – You pay all additional costs
Adult Female – Program contribution $120.00 – You pay all additional costs
Kittens – Program contribution $100.00 – You pay all additional costs
RABBITS
Both genders – Program contribution $100.00 – You pay all additional costs
BC Pet Registry
The Kelowna BC SPCA will provide a mandatory BC Pet Registry Microchip (implanted by a veterinarian during your pet’s surgery) and one year of registration to the BC Pet Registry. Registered microchips are a proven method of identification that may be the difference in being reunited with your pet should they become lost.
Your SNIF Voucher is valid for SIXTY DAYS (60) from the date of issue.
How can you take advantage of this program?
- Fill in the form below.
- You will be notified when your voucher has been approved or declined.
- Staff will process your information and create your spay/neuter voucher.
- We will e-mail you your voucher if approved.
- Schedule your vet appointment with the details provided on the voucher.
- At your scheduled appointment time, take your pet(s) and the voucher to the appointment for your spay/neuter procedure.
