Helping to fight animal cruelty is as easy as a walk in the park. Animal lovers are invited to register and fundraise for one of six B.C. locations hosting the annual BC SPCA Paws for a Cause walk, presented by Hill’s® Science Diet®. This Sept. 9, the society’s Metro Vancouver walk for the Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond and West Vancouver branches will be held in Vancouver’s David Lam Park, with additional walks held in the Fraser Valley (Abbotsford and Chilliwack Branches), Tri-Cities, Surrey, Victoria and the Okanagan (Kelowna and Vernon Branches).
All funds raised at the walks will provide life-saving care for abused, injured, neglected and homeless animals. In 2017, the BC SPCA conducted 9,334 new cruelty investigations and helped nearly 49,000 animals across the province. Not only do the funds raised help animals already in the care of the BC SPCA, but they also support our prevention and education work to address the root causes of animal cruelty and neglect.
“This is an amazing opportunity to help the province’s most vulnerable animals. By participating and fundraising through Paws for a Cause, you are truly making a difference in the lives of animals in need,” says Tess Repenning, BC SPCA manager of community fundraising. “It’s now easier than ever to sign up and fundraise. All participants will be sent handy hints and tips on how to make the most of their fundraising and we’ve got exciting new event experiences planned for all six locations this year.”
By registering early you can save on your entry and you’ll have more time to fundraise! Use promocode: EARLY before July 15 to save $5.
Participants can join as an individual or start a team. To help you get started, the BC SPCA has set up an easy, user-friendly website at spca.bc.ca/walk, where animal lovers can register, find fundraising tips and tools, and learn more about how their support ensures the BC SPCA can continue to protect and enhance the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in B.C.
The BC SPCA also wishes to thank presenting sponsor Hill’s® Science Diet® and our generous provincial Paws sponsors: CTV, Petsecure, PwC and TV Week.
