This September, animal lovers across the province came together and walked to fight animal cruelty at the Scotiabank & BC SPCA Paws for a Cause. Participants in the walks raised more than $560,000 this year! Paws for a Cause has raised more than $12.5 million since 2003 to help thousands of abused, injured, neglected and homeless animals in B.C.
Thank you to all the walkers, donors, volunteers, vendors and sponsors who make Paws for a Cause such a success. The generosity and compassion of all the participants allows the BC SPCA to do lifesaving work across the province, including almost 10,000 cruelty investigations each year.
A special thanks to our dedicated fundraisers who take part every year. Lisa Wagner and her fundraising team “Walks ‘N’ Wags Pet First Aid & Friends” have fundraised for the past 6 years. “Friends, clients, and members of the public join our team for many reasons, but our one common goals is a wish to end animal cruelty. Each September we come together for a fun day with local pets, knowing that we are also benefiting so many other animals who need our help,” says Lisa.
Since Walks ‘N’ Wags Pet First Aid & Friends started taking part, they have raised an amazing $24,429! “The key to our team’s success is creativity and having fun! It’s not just about the actual walk itself…we are busy doing our own fundraising events for months before September. Helping animals in need is our passion and we hope others will be inspired to do the same. B.C.’s animals need our help and the BC SPCA can’t do it without us.”
Thank you once again to everyone for their support!
