March 2019 Update -

The BC SPCA Kamloops & District Community Animal Centre opens in less than a month and we are very excited.  We are excited to show you our new home soon and are still working hard in our High Five Capital Campaign to raise funds needed to support the animals that will be coming into our care in this new beautiful Centre.

There is still time to make a donation, call our branch at 250.376.7722, or make a donation online today!

This state-of-the art facility that will transform how abused and abandoned animals from across the region will be cared for.  The environment will promote the highest levels of animal health and welfare for dogs, cats, and small animals and allow for designated areas for temperament and behavioural assessments and isolation areas for sick and injured animals.  Our Centre will serve as a critical hub for animal cruelty investigations.  The Spay & Neuter clinic will provide accessible spay/neuter and vaccine services in our community helping reduce pet overpopulation.  Our new Community room will host enhanced humane education and youth programs, workshops, training, and community events.  We are proud that our new facility will facilitate the creation of stronger bonds between animals and humans, and overall contribute to a more compassionate and healthier community and region.

Jan 2019 Update - The countdown is on and we need your help to open the doors of the new Kamloops & District BC SPCA Community Animal Centre!

Construction is almost complete and we are nearing the final stages of construction.  The BC SPCA Kamloops & District Community Animal Centre cares and protects thousands of animals in our region. Our new facility will enable us to replace the aging shelter we currently have, as well as our offsite spay/neuter clinic with one new, purpose-built Animal Care Centre.

Our current aging and inadequate facility is being replaced by a purpose-built Animal Care Centre where abused and abandoned animals from across the region can be cared for according to the latest standards in animal welfare. The new 10,500 sq ft facility is located on 2.2 acres of land across from the Kamloops Airport. It will be a special place to strengthen animal health and welfare, provide more humane education, and help fortify the incredible bond between animals and humans.

The new BC SPCA Kamloops & District Community Animal Centre is projected to cost approximately $6.5. million. With help from the community, we have already secured over 90% of these funds and have only $350,000 left to raise!

But your support is needed to take us across the finish line!  With your help, the soon-to-be completed facility will provide a greater opportunity for staff and volunteers to strengthen animal welfare in our community and surrounding areas. The animals need you to help open the doors.

Will you give the rescued animals of Kamloops & District a special place to heal by making a gift now?

You can donate online today or contact Lisa Fuller, Manager, Community Development at (250) 572-3297 to learn about additional donation or naming opportunities.

Thank you for your love of animals and your much-needed support. High Fives to game changers like you!

The new BC SPCA Kamloops & District Community Animal Centre is projected to cost approximately $6.5. million. With help from the community, we have already secured much of these funds and have only $350,000 left to raise!

Your compassionate gift towards the new Community Animal Centre will bring us one step closer to meeting that goal - to build a better future for animals in Kamloops. The animals need you to help open the doors. Please make a gift today!

The Kamloops & District shelter cares for over 1,500 animals every year but the current space isn't big enough and the space is not ideal in allowing staff to efficiently offer the quality of care the animals, staff, and volunteers require. The new 10,500 sq. ft. state-of-the-art Community Animal Centre will include modern animal welfare designs to promote the highest levels of animal health. It will serve as a critical hub for animal cruelty investigations in the region and will include larger indoor/outdoor kennels for dogs and cats, a multi-purpose room for humane education programs and 2,340 sq. ft. will be set aside for a spay/neuter clinic.

This new facility will transform how abused and abandoned animals are cared for in the region. Together we can prevent animal suffering and give vulnerable animals in need a second chance. This new facility could make Kamloops and area one of the most humane regions in B.C.,” said Craig Daniell, CEO BC SPCA.

For more information about how you can lend a hand with building the new facility including donations and named sponsorship opportunities, please contact Lisa Fuller, manager of community development at (250) 572-3297 or lfuller@spca.bc.ca.

The New Kamloops & District Community Animal Centre

We are building a new and improved BC SPCA Kamloops & District Community Animal Centre that will help care for and protect thousands of animals each year. This will enable us to replace the aging and inadequate shelter we currently have, combined with our offsite spay/neuter clinic with one new, purpose-built Animal Care Centre.

The new BC SPCA Kamloops & District Community Animal Centre is projected to cost approximately $6.5. million. With help from the community, we have already secured much of these funds including a very special gift of $1.5 million from the Province of British Columbia. We have only $740,000 left to raise!

Your compassionate gift towards will bring us one step closer to meeting that goal - to build a better future for animals in Kamloops. The animals need you to help open the doors. Please make a gift today!

The new 10,500-square-foot facility will be a critical hub for animal rescue in the Kamloops region and will be a special place to strengthen the bond between animals and humans.

This new Community Animal Centre will meet the needs of the animals and create a welcoming place for potential adopters - making all the difference in how quickly animals find their new families. This new facility will incorporate modern designs to ensure the highest levels of health and welfare for animals, including a 2,340-square-foot clinic for spay/neuter surgeries to help reduce pet overpopulation in the region, 12 shared "apartments" for dogs to encourage natural movement and socialization, five large cat rooms, designated areas for temperament and behaviour assessments, and specialized isolation areas for sick and injured animals. The centre will also have a large retail area for pet supplies, a dog-wash station for the public, office space for regional animal cruelty investigators and a multi-purpose space for dog training, SPCA youth camps, workshops and other events for the community.
