Toody

Toody was undeniably nervous and shy from the moment she was surrendered for the second time to the BC SPCA South Okanagan/Similkameen Branch in May 2019.

Fortunately, she wasn’t in our care for long before she captured the heart of her forever guardian, Tammy, with her online photo.

Tammy knew immediately that she could give Toody the life she longed for.

However, this came with some challenges before Toody became more comfortable.

Not only did Toody eventually come out of her shell, but in the year and a half since her adoption, she has also started to thrive and live her best life—now across the country.

Now, Tammy has shared an update with us:

I had been looking at adopting a cat for a while and decided to check out the BC SPCA website.

I had seen a couple of cats I was interested in, but decided that I would look online one more time to make sure. Then, bam—there was a picture of this super frightened girl in her box. My heart leapt! I had to save her. She needed my love.

I emailed the BC SPCA South Okanagan/Similkameen Branch and went in to visit the next day. She was overweight and very scared. This was her second stay at the BC SPCA.

I knew she was the one for me and I happily adopted her. It took a few weeks before Toody would come out of her box. Then it was a few more weeks before she came out from between the couch and the wall.

Once she did, her personality was apparent. She loved belly rubs. I switched her on to some excellent food. Now, we play tag in the apartment. She loves to run and pounce.

We moved from BC to Ontario and we are settled into our new place with a balcony. Toody loves the balcony. She watches the birds and squirrels, and comes and goes as she pleases.

Toody is very vocal and loving, yet still somewhat aloof as cats tend to be. I have a disease where I get sick at the drop of a hat and she sticks very close to me when I’m having an attack.

I can’t believe how much Toody has enhanced my quality of life. She makes me laugh every day. She is definitely spoiled.

She will be turning eight this year and I am looking forward to many more years with her hairy body wandering around.

Thank you, Tammy, for adopting Toody and for committing your time to making her as comfortable as possible in her forever home.

We are pleased to see how at ease Toody feels with you and allows her true purrsonality to shine through. We wish you many more happy memories to be made with your furry companion.
