Rosie and her siblings were just a few months old when they were surrendered to the BC SPCA Vernon & District Branch in January 2020.

A Mastiff-Pyrenees Mix, we knew Rosie was going to grow up to be a big girl, so she needed the right home to suit her needs.

Luckily for Rosie, James and his partner met her and fell in love with her right at the beginning. They knew it would be a lot of work to train a large-breed puppy, but at the time none of us knew just how affected we would all be by COVID-19.

Being in quarantine has presented its own unique set of challenges for James and his partner in training Rosie, but she is already growing up to be her best self.

A few months in, James has written to us with an update:

Rosie has fit in very well around the house ever since we adopted her. She seems to enjoy living with us and our other dog Casper.

She is quite inquisitive and she gets along well with the deer, quail and other animals that frequent our home.

Since we have been in lockdown for COVID-19, Rosie doesn’t get to interact with as many people as we would like her to. On our walks we encourage her to socialize as much as possible with other dogs and the occasional human. We are looking forward to our local dog park opening up again.

Still a puppy, Rosie has no idea just how big her paws are. They have a tendency to just end up everywhere! She walks well on leash and we take her out for three kilometres every day in addition to her free access to the acre yard.

Rosie is always up for anything. She has boundless energy but loves her downtime as well.

We are looking forward to many more years and adventures together.
