Peaches

Sweet Peaches was surrendered to the BC SPCA Maple Ridge Branch in the early summer of 2019.

It took some time for her to come out of her shell, but we knew Peaches would make the perfect loving companion for the right guardian.

We transferred her over to the BC SPCA Vancouver Branch so she could meet more potential adopters. There, while still learning to trust her new surroundings and caretakers, Peaches met Gabrielle.

It may have been Peaches’ purrs that gave her away, but Gabrielle couldn’t ignore the affection she immediately felt upon meeting this sweet orange and white kitty.

Now, one year since Peaches’ adoption became official, Gabrielle has written to us with an update:

One year ago today I met Peaches and brought her home. She is the best thing that has ever happened to me. She is my match made in heaven.

It is hard to describe the bond we have but she is everything I hoped for when I walked into the shelter.

I had grown up with cats my whole life, but due to rental situations, I hadn’t been able to adopt a cat for many years. When I finally moved into a place that allows pets, I visited the BC SPCA Vancouver Branch with my mother. I already had the filled form in my hand.

As soon as I met the lovely volunteer in charge, she told me, “You need to meet Peaches.”

I walked in the cat room and sat down. Instantly, Peaches jumped into my lap and wanted cuddles. I also went to meet another cat, but as soon as I went back to Peaches, she was eagerly waiting for me.

I started tearing up because I knew I had found my little girl.

I was surprised and beyond excited when they told me I could bring Peaches home that same day. She settled in very quickly. Ever since she has discovered she’s allowed to be on the bed, it has become one of her favourite spots.

Sometimes it only takes me walking into the room for Peaches to start purring. She is happiest when licking my face enthusiastically. She has brought me so much happiness and love.

I am so grateful to the BC SPCA and their wonderful volunteers for bringing Peaches into my life. It was definitely meant to be.

Thank you, Gabrielle, for choosing adoption as your first option and welcoming Peaches into your life. Rental restrictions can definitely be challenging for us animal lovers. We’re so grateful that you were able to find a home that allowed you to share your love with a new feline companion. Your timing happened to be purrfect for Peaches.
