Chloe

There are so many factors when it comes to looking to adopt a pet, but timing is very important.

Once she committed to adopting a cat, Joanne knew that this cat would become a big part of the family. Therefore, the timing had to be right; then it was just a matter of finding the perfect feline for their family.

In February 2019, Joanne and her family began their search on the BC SPCA website, and discovered a beautiful tortoiseshell kitty named Chloe. At the time, Chloe was living with a foster family under the care of the BC SPCA Burnaby Branch.

Joanne knew there was something special about Chloe, and took her family to meet her.

It wasn’t long before Chloe joined the family. We have now received an update on how she settled in:

My daughter and I have never had a pet before. We were a little scared of the big responsibility. However, she is going to turn 16 soon, which we believe is old enough to help care for a pet.

We went to the BC SPCA website and found Chloe, who was with a foster mom instead of the shelter. When we arrived at her foster home, it was love at first sight. She melted our hearts (and our worries) immediately with her big round eyes.

We went to finish all the required adoption documents at the shelter immediately—this was right before Family Day.

The first three days we had her, Chloe was very curious about everything, but refused to eat or drink. We were worried, so we took her to the vet, who told us she was fine and just needed some time to adapt to her new environment.

Sure enough, Chloe was very happy as the days went on. She roamed around the house and by the fourth day she began to eat and drink.

Chloe loves to be held and pet by my daughter. Chloe follows her everywhere from the moment she comes homes from school and even when she goes to shower.

She loves to play hide-and-seek with Grandma. But Chloe wins every time.

Chloe allows the rest of us to pet her for short periods of time, but she mostly prefers quiet time underneath my daughter’s bed, just being the queen of the house.

We feel so lucky to have Chloe as our family member. She has given us so much joy and happiness!

And we feel so lucky that Chloe has found such a sweet, loving home. Thank you to you and your family, Joanne, for adopting Chloe. We adore hearing how each of you have welcomed Chloe with such open hearts. We wish you many more years of joy and happiness with your new feline friend.
