Winifred Snape

Win Snape was born in Birmingham September 21, 1919, and was a lifelong animal lover. She used to say, “I never met an animal I didn’t like!” She loved horses but is probably best remembered in the Broadmead, Victoria area for the nine Corgis she had over the years: Meghan, Bronte, Benji, and Pixie, just to name a few.

Win was a classically trained and accomplished musician, and entertained in many of Victoria’s care homes with a number of bands, most recently with The Amigos. She was also known for her “Singing Corgis” who she trained to “sing” along with songs like “How much is that doggie in the window?”

During her final months, Win enjoyed the companionship of a small rescued Papillon named Tillie, who was a devoted friend and hospice visitor. Win Snape died April 15, 2012, at the age of 92, and left a legacy to the BC SPCA directed towards the spaying and neutering fund.
