South Peace Cares - A New Home for Animals

Kamloops Rendering

We are building a new and improved BC SPCA South Peace Community Animal Centre in Dawson Creek that will help care for and protect thousands of animals each year.

We are so close to meeting our goal of $2.7 million. This will enable us to replace the aging and inadequate shelter we currently have.

With continued help from the community, together we have already secured more than $2,575,000 including a very special gift of $800,000 from the Province of British Columbia and $400,000 from the City of Dawson Creek.

Your compassionate gift that makes animal welfare in the South Peace region a priority, will bring us one step closer to meeting that goal - to build a better future for animals in South Peace.

The animals need you to help open the doors. Please make a gift today!

The New South Peace Community Animal Centre

The 4,800-square-foot facility will be located in the eastern part of the city at 11418 Third Street.

It will incorporate modern designs to ensure the highest levels of health and welfare for animals. The centre will include nine spacious indoor-outdoor dog kennels, five large indoor-outdoor cat rooms, areas for small animals, designated space for temperament and behaviour assessments, specialized isolation areas for sick and injured animals, food preparation and laundry areas and office space for shelter, cruelty investigations and humane education staff.

The centre will also have a multi-purpose space that can be used for dog training, SPCA youth camps, workshops and other events for the community.

The current, aging facility, located at 637 114th Avenue, served 607 abused, neglected, abandoned and injured animals last year and we are excited to grow to better serve the South Peace community.
