Maple Ridge woman charged with animal cruelty

November 25, 2009

A 10-year-old-old dog whose ear infection was so bad that BC SPCA animal cruelty investigators could smell it from two metres away has been given a new leash on life, while his former guardian has been charged with animal cruelty.

Denise Westle of Maple Ridge has been charged under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act after Max, a springer spaniel, was found on a tether and suffering from a severe untreated ear infection, deviated digits resulting from overgrown nails and filthy, matted fur.

He was tied up in a yard littered with garbage, debris and fecal matter.

For more information, read our full press release.

Please support our anti-tethering campaign and help break the chains of suffering.

The British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is a not-for-profit organization reliant on public donations. Our mission is to protect and enhance the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in B.C.
