John Henry “Jack” Brown

John Henry “Jack” Brown passed away peacefully in Hospice House on April 20th, 2008 at the age of 88 years. He was born in England on December 25th, 1919, and immigrated to Canada at the age of three. Jack spent his early years ‘riding the rails’ from east to west, stopping at many locations to work as a farm and ranch hand.

During 1942 to 1945, Jack proudly served his country during WWII. In 1948, he moved to the Kootenays and spent 41 years ranching at Ta Ta Creek. During that time Jack actively served on many committees endeavoring to improve the agricultural community. In 1989, Jack semi-retired to Lavington and continued his passion for ranching until his passing.

Jack was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, one sister, his first wife, Mildred in 1966, his second wife Irene Price in 1998, several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and nephew. He is survived by his son, Harold (Janet) of Kingsgate, B.C., grand daughter Jolene (Adam) of Summerland, B.C., great grandson Logan Jack Gutsell, step grand daughter Misha of Prince Albert, step great grand children Danica, Madelynn and Lucas, special friends Lucille Haberenko, Heather Middleton and Darlene Wright, special nieces Karen Peters of Ontario and Judy Ossington of Vernon, daughters-in-law Alice McLean and Marlie Brown, sisters-in-law Edna Ossington, Edith Jerome and Doris Allen, brothers-in-law Chuck Burrell and Bill Burrell, numerous nieces and nephews in Albera, B.C. and Ont.
